CBI which is probing the disproportionate assets case against the YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is all set to question the MDs of cement companies that received favours during the Rajasekhara Reddy regime and invested in the companies of his son in an alleged quid pro quo operation.
In the next phase of its probe, CBI has decided to concentrate on the controversial GOs issued by the YSR regime, favouring cement companies like Dalmia Cements, India Cements and Penna Cements. CBI’s allegation is that these companies received benefits like limestone mining leases and additional water allocations to make them invest in Jagan’s companies.
CBI has already served notices to the MDs of these companies and is likely to start questioning them from Monday. Those who received CBI summons include N Srinivasan of the India Cements who is also the chief of the BCCI and owner of the IPL Chennai Super Kings team. CBI’s charge is that the YSR government has allotted Krishna water even violating the inter-state agreements to two units of India Cements and Srinivasan has in turn invested Rs. 140 cr. in Jagan’s companies.
According to information, after interrogating the cement company bosses, CBI would concentrate once again on questioning ministers who were responsible for the irregular allocations
