Veedinthe Review – Veedinte Movie Review, Rating, Rajapattai Tamil Movie: Chiyaan Vikram plays to the galleries this time taking a break from his unusual characters like Nanna. Veedinthe is a commercial potboiler which glorifies the hero right from the start to end. It may please Vikram mass fans in Tamilnadu. Does it go down well with our audience? Read on…

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

Story:

Fire Shankar (Vikram) is a gym boy who aspires to become a bi villain in films. He bumps into an old man Dakshina Murthy (K Vishwanadh), who runs an orphanage. His own son (Avinash) is after him to grab that property to his political benefits. He is supported by Ranga Nayaki a.k.a. Akka (Sana), a political party leader. Now Shankar turns savior to Murthy and the orphanage. Rest of the story is about how Shankar fights with Akka and her right hand Mustafa (Pradeep Rawat).

Analysis:

Director Suseenthiran made debut in Tamil with Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu which was later remade in Telugu as Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu in under Satya’s direction. His second film in Tamil is Naan Mahaan Alla with Karthi and Kajal. It was dubbed into Telugu as Naa Peru Shiva and did well.

With this track record, Suseenthiran raised hopes over Rajapattai (Veedinthe Tamil title) as he has an actor like Vikram by his side. Sadly, Suseenthiran didn’t try to utilize the ‘actor’ Vikram, but instead banked on the ‘star’ Vikram. Veedinthe is a commercial potboiler with so called mass masala elements.

Story is very thin and utterly predictable. Director tried to entertain the audience through Vishwanadh’s character in the first half and succeeded to an extent. Second half is completely action based and boredom is guaranteed. Only Vikram and Vishwanadh are the saving grace in this routine masala movie.

Performances:

Vikram is good as the lead man. He has worked out well to suit the character. Watch out for his hand to hand fight with Pradeep Rawat. He is as sincere and dedicated as ever. He donned various getups too. Deesksha Seth is confined to the first hour. She is hardly seen in the second hour. She did an Okay job.

K. Vishwanadh is a revelation. He usually plays respectable old man kind of roles. This movie shows the lighter side of the legendary director. He walked away with all the laurels. Sana is fine as cold blooded politician. Pradeep Rawat is apt. Avinash and others did their job.

Technicalities:

Songs by Yuvan Shankar Raja are a big letdown. Except for Laddu laddu none of the songs entertains. Background score is fine though. Editing is neat and cinematography is good. Action part is over the top. Direction by Suseenthiran is neat, but he should have written a strong script to make use of Vikram’s caliber. Good opportunity got wasted on a poor script.

Final Word:

Veedinthe has nothing to offer except for a couple of funny scenes on Vikram-Vishwanadh-Deeksha. Watch it if you got nothing better to do.

Veedinthe Movie Rating: 2/5
