Why ban Christian preaching on Tirumala

The finding of Christian literature in the houses of three employees of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams on Tirumala hills on Tuesday has created a lot of commotion among the devotees. The TTD took the issue seriously and transferred the employees to Tirupati.
But our maverick state secretary of Communist Party of India K Narayana has taken objection to banning of Christian preaching on Tirumala hills.
“What is wrong in the preaching of Christianity on the Tirumala? The Constitution of India has given the religious freedom to every citizen. When the TTD can do “dharma pracharam” in different parts of the state, why can’t Christians propagate their religion on Tirumala?” he asked.
Interestingly, Narayana hails from Tirupati town and he must be definitely aware of the sentiments of the Hindu devotees. Though there are quite a few CPI activists in the town, they are all devotees of Lord Venkateshwara and do not interfere in the religious affairs of the temple. One does not know in what context Narayana made the remarks, but he has definitely stirred the sentiments of the people.
