A Bahrain-bound Gulf Airways flight was forced to make an emergency landing after a scorpion bit a passenger at Chennai airport.
The victim Vidyasagar (35), a native of Vijayawada, was returning to Bahrain to resume his work as the two months leave granted by his company has come to an end. After boarding the plane, a scorpion inside his coat pocket bit his hand. Suffering with unbearable pain, he pulled his hand out of the pocket and the scorpion has fallen on the floor. Immediately, a co-passenger crushed it under his boots.
The crew brought this matter to the notice of pilots who contacted the ATC which gave the permission of emergency landing. After first aid at the airport, Mr Vidyasagar was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Due to this unfortunate incident, the flight took off only at around 12:15 in the morning, delaying the journey by two hours.
