Priyamani Charulatha Buys Remake Rights from Thai Movie

When our filmmakers want to remake a film from other Indian languages, they simply go and buy the rights from the original producer. But when they want to 'copy' something from films made in other countries, they don't bother about buying remake rights. They don't even give credits to the original makers. They just claim that the story and screenplay were written by them.
Recently our film industry's top director Rajamouli has been facing allegations of plagiarism. Most of Rajamouli's movies have scenes from Hollywood or other foreign language films. We can consider those as inspired stuff. But his Maryada Ramanna is a rip off of Hollywood film Our Hospitality. The credits to the original writers were not given and Rajamouli says that Our Hospitality was just an inspiration for Maryada Ramanna. Adapting a film to one nativity from other doesn't come under inspired category. A director of his caliber should have bought the remake rights or simply could have given credits to the original filmmakers.
When all other star directors are blatantly lifting content from foreign films one film stood tall and proud by buying the remake rights of the original. Charulatha film starring Priyamani is a remake of Thai movie Alone. The makers could have taken it for granted and lifted the content from that Thai film as the original makers would never get to see Charulatha and therefore there is no question of copyright act. However, the makers of Charulatha didn't do that and showed the way to many other copy cats. After all moviemaking is an art and everyone needs to respect others work.
