A mob has repeatedly beaten a lady MLA from Assam for cheating her husband and eloping with her boyfriend. When Rumi Nath, the 33 year old Congress MLA visited her flood hit constituency this incident took place.

MLA Rumi Nath had eloped with her boyfriend Jakir Hussain a month ago to get married, leaving her husband and two year old daughter. However, she later filed divorce with her first husband, Rakesh Singh. People of her constituency are angry with the two-time MLA for such acts and women tried to beat her up with brooms, before she is saved by supporters. Later when the MLA and her second husband Jakir were sitting at a tea stall for a small sip, a mob repeatedly kicked the MLA and dragged her by hair before beating her 'second husband'. Soon after receiving the news, SP Pradeep Poojari has rushed to the spot to save the couple.

A couple of mob stated that they are angry with the MLA as she has cheated her first husband with this affair and stood as bad example to people of constituency. MLA Rumi Nath has refused to comment on her marriage, but filed a case of rape against the mob who attacked her!
