Impi's misery continued in the competition as they slid to their fifth straight defeat at Willowmore Park in Benoni, this time losing by nine wickets against Titans. Left-arm spinning allrounder Roelof van der Merwe picked up three wickets and Eden Links took two in an economical spell to bowl out Impi for 131. Khayelilhe Zondo top-scored with 33 and Luke Wright and Paul Collingwood made 28 each but the rest of the middle order failed. Henry Davids smacked 55 in the Titans reply, off 35 balls, and Jacques Rudolph stayed through to the end with an unbeaten 47. van der Merwe starred in an all-round effort, making an attacking 30, to seal victory in the 16th over. Titans are now at second place with three wins from four games.
An unbeaten 70 from opener and wicketkeeper Morne van Wyk helped Knights beat Lions by eight wickets at Chevrolet Park in Bloemfontein. van Wyk smashed six fours and three sixes in his knock and added 83 for the first wicket with fellow opener Rilee Rossouw. The pair set the foundation for a successful chase of 132 in their 9.3 over stand and the target was overhauled in just the 16th over. Lions, after choosing to bat, lost two early wickets but Quinton de Kock and Neil McKenzie got them on track with scores of 48 and 45 respectively. However, a total of 131 wasn't adequate. Knights won their third game of the tournament and are currently leading the points table.
Mthokozisi Shezi starred in Dolphins' thrilling three-run win over Cape Cobras at Boland Park in Paarl. He picked up 4 for 25 in four overs to peg back Cobras in their chase of 167. He dismissed Dane Vilas, Owais Shah and Mark Boucher in a space of four deliveries to reduce them to 57 for 4. The Cobras, however, fought back, Stiaan van Zyl and captain Andrew Puttick added 92 in 73 balls to get their team back on track. van Zyl remained unbeaten on 86 off 53 balls and Puttick made 43 but Cobras fell short. With 12 required off the last over, they managed only eight. Dolphins, in their innings, were struggling at 56 for 4 but David Miller staged a recovery with a quickfire, unbeaten 61 off 35 balls, in the company of Vaugh van Jaarsveld and Robert Frylinck who took the score to 166.
