AR Rahman's Hosanna song gets into trouble

The Catholic-Christian Secular Forum (CSF) has taken strong exception to AR Rahman’s song ‘Hosanna’ in ‘Ekk Deewana Tha’, scheduled for release on 17 February.

The forum wants the song withdrawn and warns that it will launch an agitation if its demand isn’t met.

The CSF demands an apology and urges authorities to act as it has hurt not only Christian but also Jewish sentiments (Hosanna is a prayer for both communities).

Ekk Deewana Tha is a romantic drama written and directed by Gautham Menon, featuring Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson in the lead roles. It’s a remake of Menon’s Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa.

According to CSF general secretary Joseph Dias: We aren’t going into the lyrics or vulgar picturisation of the song which are also objectionable. But we’d like to point out that ‘Hosanna’ is a prayer in the Bible and sacred to both Jews and Christians, referring to God or Jesus Christ, with strong reverential and religious connotations.
